Overview

In the quiet stillness of her home, Maya wrestles with the echoes of a past that refuses to let go. Haunted by memories of a toxic relationship and the weight of unresolved trauma, she prepares to leave town in search of freedom and a fresh start. Through a late-night phone call with her mother, old wounds resurface, blurring the line between reality and memory. Moving Past is a haunting and intimate portrait of a woman caught between the pull of where she’s been and the uncertainty of who she’s becoming.

Why?

I’ve always been drawn to how places hold memories—how they feel alive with the moments we’ve left behind. Having moved often, I’ve wrestled with the question: do you stay and confront your past or leave and start fresh? Moving Past is an exploration of that tension.

Dreams have a similar power. Sometimes they feel so real that they bleed into waking life, reshaping memories and blurring the line between what was and what we imagine. This film lives in that space, where grief, identity, and memory collide.

I hope Moving Past resonates with anyone who’s ever felt caught between the past and the future. More than anything, I want it to be an emotional experience—one that lingers, like a dream you can’t quite shake.
